Pensions Modeller

This calculator is for school staff who receive salary directly from the Department of Education and Skills, and are in membership of the applicable pension scheme

Please note that any estimates provided relate only to teaching and non-teaching staff employed in Primary and Secondary schools who are not members of the new Single Public Service Pension Scheme ("Single Scheme"). This commenced with effect from 1st January 2013 and applies to new entrants recruited after that date.

The DES Pensions Modeller is designed to help you get an estimate of your projected pension benefits based on the salary and service details supplied by you. It will on this basis estimate:

pension benefits at retirement age
preserved benefits (payable at retirement age) if you resign your post before reaching retirement age
cost neutral early retirement benefits

You should have a recent payslip to hand before entering your details into the Modeller.

The calculator will not take into account salary changes between now and retirement.

The Public Service Pensions (Single Scheme and Other Provisions) Act 2012 became law on 28th July 2012 and, from that date, introduced a 40 year limit on pensionable service, for people who have been a member of more than one public service pension scheme . The calculation provided by the DES Pensions Modeller is based on information provided by you. In the event of any error or omission in this estimate, the legal requirements of the scheme rules will govern. At the time of retirement or should you require information for official purposes you should contact the Department of Education and Skills Pension Unit in writing or by email.
